A mass shooting in California left four people dead and others injured after the suspect opened fire at an office building on Wednesday.
This is the third mass shooting in the US in just two weeks after the first incident in Atlanta claimed the lives of eight people and the second shooting incident in Colorado killed ten.
The Orange Police Department told the Los Angeles Times that police officers wounded the gunman after they returned fire when they were fired on.
Dozens of police cars, a SWAT vehicle, and fire engines from different fire departments responded to the shooting, which occurred at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue in Orange at around 5:30 pm, according to Orange Police Department’s post on Facebook.
The post read: “Officers arrived as shots were being fired and located multiple victims at the scene including fatalities. An officer involved shooting occurred.
“The situation has been stabilized and there is no threat to the public.”
Dispatch supervisor Sam Ahumada said to the Orange County Register that the Fire Department handled six patients.
Orange Police Lt. Jennifer Amat told the Los Angeles Times that the shooter and another person were taken to a hospital.
Congresswoman Katie Porter took to Twitter and said she was ‘deeply saddened’ by news of the mass shooting.
“I am continuing to keep victims and their loved ones in my thoughts as we continue to learn more,” Porter wrote on Twitter.
