Darren Dibsy McClintock was addicted to fast food so much that he weighed a staggering 40 stone at one point.
He was also told that he would end up dying if he did not change his ways.
Darren decided to give up and completed the Great North Run hat is a half marathon. He was one of the fifty-seven thousand people who managed to cross the line in Newcastle. He completed the run in two hours and forty-three minutes.
After completing the race, he said that he is alright with a little bit of pain in his legs. He explained that the support there was mental, he did not realize how much support there could be and was motivated by people shouting along the way.
He admitted that completing the run is an amazing feeling and was overwhelmed by the sense of achievement. He noted that if someone told him to do the Great North Run a month ago, he would have laughed.
He aspired to be a part of the run next year as well and achieve a better time. Darren hit the headlines across the U.K. after news of his personal trainer’s techniques went viral.
His personal trainer, Mike Hind, went to all of his regular fast-food eateries with a flyer after the twenty-seven-year-old was told by his doctors that Darren was eating himself to death. Darren ate chips, pies, and pasties daily before he was admitted to the hospital for heart problems.
The flyers had a picture of Darren with his name and a text asking not to serve the man as obesity is killing him. Although it was brutal, the method proved to be highly effective.
Darren has managed to drop 19 stone of weight since then. He has now adopted a new and healthy lifestyle with the help of Mike, an award-winning personal trainer.
