It is ridiculous to be charged twice the price of a product simply because you are a traveler.
Probably you have been a victim of price gouging at one time or another. Basically, some corporations are used to take advantage of poor travelers in an airport or a mall. Maybe they always believe travelers have a lot of cash hence you can easily become their cash cows. And in most cases, this is always the opposite.
Well, it doesn’t matter whether someone is rich or not: the most important thing is you work hard for that money. Therefore, no one has a right to extort money from you in the name of the social class.
Especially, when it comes to basic amenities that makes the survival of every human being bearable.
Apparently, a certain lady was visiting the Calgary International Airport. Her flight was scheduled to take place on that particular day. Therefore, as nature would have it, her menstrual cycle arrived when it was least expected. Instinctively, she walked towards the airport supermarket to grab a box of tampons. Surprisingly, the tampons were extremely overpriced. But, she did not have so many options here.
It was a matter of life or death, and the only option was picking the highly priced tampons. Still irritated by the price gouging, she decided to leave a note in the washroom as well as the box of tampons.
Hopeful that the supermarket administration would receive the news from an aggrieved customer.
Carlee Field, another traveler, visited the washroom and as she was washing her hands, she noticed something unusual. Apparently, there was an opened box of tampons and a note from an aggrieved customer.
“None of the tampons vending machine worked; therefore I was forced to buy this box of tampons at $ 15. It is not acceptable at all. Please, if you need one, don’t be shy, pick it.” The note read.
Well, Carrie was astonished by the woman’s kindness. Actually, she thought it would have been better if the lady kept the expensive tampons to herself. But, hell no! She decided to offer a helping hand to anyone who was in dire need of tampons.
Carlee was moved by this woman’s kindness, and she decided to post the picture of tampons with a captivating caption:” Ladybro, I really appreciate you.” Actually, Carrie was unaware that her actions sparked attention.
Surprisingly, the attendants from the supermarket reacted to her Reddit post. They promised to bring down the cost of the tampons. Noticeably, they reduced the cost of tampons from $15 to $6.25.
The field was glad that they were able to create awareness and cause change. Especially, when 50 percent of the population is made up of women, who are in dire need of this essential product. Yet, they cannot afford to purchase a box of tampons when it is overpriced.
