The missing Glee star’s distraught mother, Yolanda, has been photographed kneeling on the banks of the lake where the Naya Rivera disappeared.
The 33-year-old actress disappeared while out boating at Lake Piru with her 4-year-old son, Josey, who was found asleep in the rental boat.
Michael and Yolanda joined the search team to check the lake and were photographed comforting each other by the shore.
A video shared by Ventura County Sheriff’s Department shows the underwater search for Rivera as officers warn she could be found ‘five minutes from now or five days from now.’
“Here’s an example of the underwater visibility at a 30-foot depth in Lake Peru,” the department wrote on Twitter.
Because of almost zero visibility, divers are resorting to hunt by feel. This means it could take several days before Rivera’s body can be located.
“We don’t know if she’s going to be found five minutes from now or five days from now, so we’re still going to be continuing this effort,” said Eric Buschow at a press conference. “The visibility in the water is one to two feet.”
Buschow added: “Last night, they had a couple of images that showed up on the sonar that they thought might be promising to investigate.
“This morning, they sent an ROV, or a small robotic device, down into the water to examine those objects. Unfortunately, they did not locate Naya Rivera. They are still searching.”
He also said that he is confident her body will be found.
Speaking of the sonar system, he said: “It’s very effective. They get a really detailed image and they can go down and focus on specific things rather than putting divers in the water where they’re literally feeling around because they can’t see.”
