New footage showing the moment police officers arrived at Ron Ely’s home has been released.
In the video from the stabbing incident in October 2019, two cops can be seen entering Ron’s home in Santa Barbara at around 8:30 pm.
“Sir, what’s going on?” one officer asked as they approach the wheelchair-bound actor. Then they found the body of Valerie with multiple stab wounds.
“Oh my god, Jesus,” one cop said. “Clear the house.”
It was then discovered that the couple’s son, 30-year-old Cameron, stabbed the mother to death. He was later shot by officers more than 20 times.
“Both deputies saw that Ely had blood on him and believed he was the suspect in Valerie’s murder. Both deputies pointed their gun at Ely. At least one of them illuminated him with the light on his firearm,” officials say in the report.
“The deputies yelled multiple times at Ely to get down on the ground and to keep his hands up.
“Ely suddenly sprang upward. As he was moving to his feet, Ely bent forward at the waist, quickly moved his hands toward his waist, and yelled, ‘I have a gun!’ ” the report continues, adding that each officer “fired his or her firearm multiple times, striking Ely.”
The report adds: “All four deputies reported that they feared Ely had a weapon until the point they handcuffed him, turned him onto his back, and pat searched him.
“The medics arrived very quickly because they had been staging on the street by the top of the driveway. Medics pronounced Ely dead on-scene.”
Investigators concluded the deputies were justified in shooting Cameron Ely.
Ely’s family recently released the video from the night of the killing with the couple’s daughters holding a press conference.
