One positive thing that has come out of the Australian bushfire crisis is that it proved to everyone that the firefighters who are risking their lives to control the blazes are not alone in their fight.
The overwhelming offers of support both from Australians and people from other countries make one see humanity in a more positive light.

Whether it’s sending handmade mittens for burned koalas or donating cash for those affected by the blazes, people have been helping out in their own way.
One Italian restaurant helped by doing what they do best: making pizzas. Pierre and Rosemary Moio, the brother-and-sister owners of Pelligrini’s Italian in Sydney, wanted to do their part in helping the firefighters who were out in the front lines battling the devastating bushfires.
This is why they decided to create a 103-meter long Margherita that was served up during a fundraiser event for the firefighters.
They started on a Sunday morning and rolled out meter-long pieces of dough. They stuck them together and topped the whole thing with tomato sauce and mozzarella then baked the behemoth in a conveyor oven. To gain a better appreciation of its size, the resulting pizza was longer than an American football field.
It took four hours to bake then was seasoned with oregano, fresh basil, and olive oil. It was laid out on a roughly 100-meter stretch along Kiln Road at South Village in Kirrawee, a Sydney suburb. The pizza was 16 inches (40 centimeters) wide.
The whole was cut up into 4,000 slices and fed the crowd that showed up to donate to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service
Speaking to CNN, Pierre Moio said they made the attempt to produce “Australia’s longest ever continuous pizza.”
“It may not have broken a world record, but it was an event that certainly helped make a difference in raising much-needed funds,” he said. “The final count was 103 meters (338 feet) of continuous, unbroken crunchy Italian-style pizza.”
Moio estimates that about 3,000 people went to the event though it wasn’t clear how much cash was actually raised.
The wildfires ravaging Australia right now rank among the worst in the country’s history. Since the fire season began in late July, an area about the size of the Republic of Ireland has already been razed. More than 28 people have already perished nationwide and more than 3,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed in the state of New South Wales alone.
