Flybe Airlines goes under administration after receiving a crushing blow due to coronavirus outbreak, which led to 2000 jobs at risk.
The CEO of Flybe, Mark Anderson delivered an email late at night to all his staff members and adding the words “enormous sadness” and declared that the business could no longer run any further.
It was confirmed around 3 am that Europe’s biggest regional airline closed down their trading with immediate effect.
The government has vowed to provide all the Flybe staff members with new jobs.
Transport secretary Grant Shapps said that the government is trying to train and coach all companies so that all the stranded passengers can reach safely. Mr. Shapps also called the shut down of Flybe to be “very sad” as well.
However, Unite called the entire shut down of Flybe to be “outrageous”, and said the government did not learn its lesson after Thomas Cook and Monarch airlines were also shut down.
The Labor MP Ben Bradshaw, where Exeter Airport falls under its constituency said that the ministers have broken their promises, to help Flybe airlines and failed to reform the Air Passenger Duty as well.
Mr. Bradshaw also added by saying that Johnson’s mantra of leveling up is left behind with regions that lie in tatters. There is a loss of connectivity, and numerous airlines are currently at major risk.
On the other end, Minister Edward Argar said in defense of the government that it was an essentially commercial decision made by Flybe themselves.
He also added by saying that the airlines had been experiencing plenty of challenges for some time now and said it was not a reflection to level up an agenda.
Flybe has narrowly raised their funds after they faced troubles during January. The collapse of this airline was averted 2-months ago when the government thought of reviewing the air passenger duty.
