Flight attendants, better than anyone, know how unpredictable the flights can be which is why they undergo proper training before they are allowed to fly.
From unsuspected health emergencies to abusive customers, situations can quickly get out of hands and being stuck in the air only makes things worse. Do you think you would be able to act on your instincts and save the person in need in such case?
Fortunately, one flight attendant, Shelia Frederick, was able to do so and save a teenage girl’s future. Keep on reading and find out what happened!
During the midflight, Shelia noticed a disheveled young girl who was clearly in distress. She appeared as she was not taken care of which instantly alerted the flight attendant.

On top of that, the girl was paired with an older, well-dressed man. “He was well dressed, that’s what kind of got me because why is he well dressed, and she is looking disheveled and out of sorts,” she explained.
After observing the interactions between the two, Shelia was convinced that something sinister is going on. She approached the two passengers and tried talking to them but was immediately turned down by the man.
The girl appeared scared, so Shelia knew that she needed to handle the situation carefully. She wrote a note saying: Are you okay? Then, she pasted it into the bathroom and secretly told the girl to go there.
The girl replied to her question by writing that she needed help. Upon finding her answer, the flight attendant talked to the pilot who alerted the police. Once the plane landed, the cops were already waiting and immediately questioned and arrested the man.
After he was taken into custody, the young girl has returned to her family. As it turned out, she became a victim of human trafficking and would most likely end up as a sex slave if the brave flight attendant didn’t intervene.

“I’ve been a flight attendant for 10 years and it’s like I am going all the way back to when I was in training and I was like I could have seen these young girls and young boys and didn’t even know,” Frederick expressed after the event.
Thousands of children are abducted and trafficked each year, and many of them are transported via airplanes. Sadly, many of those in distress also pass by unnoticed.
Kudos to the aware flight attendant who was able to save one of them! Thanks to her actions, the need for additional training has been recognized which will help save more lives in the future.
