Devastating blazes continue to burn across western states, including Oregon, Washington state and California.
Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to flee as more than 4.6 million acres of land have been charred.
Firefighters managed to rescue scorched animals from wildfires as heartbreaking photos show the plight of wild animals and pets fighting for survival.
In Oregon, more than 40,000 people were forced to flee, with the state governor warning that half a million residents could soon follow.
24 people have died in California, ten in Oregon, and one in Washington as wildfires continue to ravage across the US west coast.
Rescue teams are still looking for survivors or victims in destroyed homes and vehicles.
Firefighters have also been rescuing as many animals as they can, leaving veterinarian groups and Animal Control crews scrambling for resources.
Los Angeles County Fire Department captain Daniel Trevizo said to Record Searchlight that his team was working when they heard a kitten’s cries.
“While we were cleaning up an area we heard meowing and sure enough, this little kitten comes running up as friendly as can be,” he shared.
“We’re going ahead and keeping him safe and secure until we can drop him off to animal control,” Trevizo added.
He also said that another fire captain had found a cat trapped in debris and rescued the helpless creature.
Patti Candell was shocked to see that her home in Mehama was still standing. Her home was in the path of the Beachie Creek Fire, which has burned over 188,900 acres and taken the lives of at least four people.
In an interview with CNN, Candell said: “It’s just, you know, devastating, devastating. The barn is, well its back there, you can see just that pile of white stuff. It’s there, it’s a big, huge 30-by-48 (foot) horse barn, three stalls and all that fun stuff. And yeah, it was wiped out.”
