Whenever you order something online, the transaction is a matter of trust.
This isn’t just because you’re hoping that the product you saw on the webpage is the actual product that you receive but also that the product gets to you in the first place and in an intact manner.
In the latter case, a large part of that is the responsibility of the courier company tasked with delivering the package to you. This is why FedEx, UPS, and similar courier services train their employees diligently because their reputation depends on reliably getting packages to their customers.

Then again, no one is perfect and in the following case, it’s fortunate that the addressee had a camera that automatically recorded the delivery guy because what happened was prime fodder for a delivery horror story.
It starts with the delivery guy not being in uniform and stopping in front of the house in an unmarked delivery van. One would then assume that this guy is probably a trainee or a subcontractor, which turns out to be correct.
Unfortunately, he probably wasn’t listening or was in the toilet when the part about the proper handling of packages was being discussed because after walking for a few meters, the driver carelessly tosses the package onto the front porch before turning back to his vehicle. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t realize that his actions were being recorded on camera.
It turns out the package had a $1,500 camera lens inside and though such products are typically packaged to handle accidental drops and rough handling, such careless treatment was uncalled for.
And to show just how much training the delivery guy lacked, he had to come back with his supervisor anyway because a signature was required!
Greg Riegler, a Florida-based photographer who was the addressee, confirmed that the driver was a trainee.
Writing on Reddit, he said: “I’ve been in contact with FedEx and the local distribution center. It’s a contractor, and the guy tossing the box seems to be training, which is crazy he already doesn’t care about his job.
“After the toss, the other FedEx guy kicks the box over to open the screen door to put a door tag on. They leave the screen door ajar, which for the rest of the day sets off motion alerts to my nest camera as well as blocks half our view. I know packages are supposed to be packed in a way they can handle drops and whatnot, but they shouldn’t be intentionally mishandled.”
In a later update, Riegler confirmed that his camera lens was delivered safe and sound.
“A legit FedEx guy came last night to deliver it,” he said. “Opened the box and inspected the lens in front of the camera after receiving, everything appears fine!”
