Police fear groups could descend on London to fight against anti-racism protesters, with Football Lads Alliance urging people to defend war memorials at Whitehall this weekend.
The Democratic Football Lads Alliance (DFLA) urged members to “defend what our war heroes done for this country and their honour,” with followers expected to attend by the Cenotaph and the Winston Churchill statue.
The Official DFLA wrote on Facebook: “We have had hundreds of messages in the last few days of people wanting to join us in protecting our heritage, firstly apologies if you have not had a response, secondly please refer to the post attached, we would also like to reiterate that our agenda is not to stop the BLM protest, we will be there to do what has been set out in the post, we also ask that you do not engage with any agitators please.
”
It added: “The DFLA are asking all our members to meet in Whitehall on Saturday 13th June at midday to protect our war memorials.”
Tommy Robinson, former English Defense League leader, called for opposition protests in a short video in which he claimed police are being ‘soft-handed’ at BLM demonstrations.
He also accused the police of failing to act as there were “too many people who aren’t white.”
The chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, Ken Marsh, said: “We have got the perfect storm ahead of us this weekend, we have got planned protests and now Tommy Robinson and his agitators.”
A group of Millwall fans guarded the statue of Churchill while others from Blackpool and Cardiff descended on London and said they were ready to use force to prevent further vandalism.
BLM protesters in Britain said they have a list of 60 ‘racist statues’ they want to take down for ‘celebrating slavery.’
