A fearless base jumper is doing the rounds on the internet after he was filmed leaping off the top of an icy peak onto a frozen lake, thousands of feet below.
Twenty-eight-year-old Tim Howell, a former Royal Marine from Martock, Somerset, captured the heart-stopping footage and later shared it online.

Howell jumped off the icy summit in Switzerland’s Oeschinen area and then parasailed to land on the Kandersteg frozen lake, covering a vertical distance of 5,177 feet.
The thrill-seeker was followed in his act by his friend Maria Mcfly who went after him within a few seconds of his jump.
The video that was recorded on January 7 shows Howell fist-bumping his partner in crime and telling her: “See you down there ok.”
Saying this, the adventurer Marine moves to the edge of the ice-covered summit, opens his parachute, and jumps, before calling his friend to follow.
After landing on the frozen lake, the daredevil waits for his partner to come down as she prepares to jump.
To celebrate the extreme jumps, the two friends then ski across the frozen water body.
Howell said: “We set out to jump from this well photographed cliff. In the summer it is a very popular area for hiking and swimming.
“In the winter the frozen lake is used for ice fishing and ice hockey, so new knew it would be thick enough to land on.
“We finally found a part of the cliff that was steep enough and big enough. Landing on the lake was a really odd experience, we skated back to shore over big cracks in the ice.”
After pulling on the great stunt, the thrill-seeker posted on his Facebook account: “Kandersteg Frozen lake Ski BASE.
“One of those days where motivation is high, but maybe ambition and the idea is greater then success. (In the way of finding a jump, not falling to our death, haha).
“Is the lake frozen enough to land on? Is there enough snow on the exit? Can we reach the exit and is it steep enough?
“But our first BASE jump of the year worked out beautifully. Such good team! Huge thanks to: Maria for the best company. AdrenalinBase and the new ALL-T canopy.”
The video of the insane jump shared by the daredevil was welcomed by the social media in a very warm fashion.
Someone wrote: “Super scenic. Much more impressive than another 1m above the trees wingsuit flight.” One person said: “Epic bro nice one.”
Another response read: “Such an incredible location man! Awesome jump.”
