The 11-year-old girl who was fatally shot by her father before he took his own life has been identified following the heartbreaking murder-suicide.
Angela Ng, 11, was a bubbly little girl who was loved by her parents according to her family. Her world, however, turned upside down after she became terminally ill with cancer.
According to the reports, Angela’s condition continued to worsen despite chemotherapy and she was set to have her leg amputated at the end of August.
Weeks prior to the scheduled surgery, the 11-year-old’s father, Kenbian Ng, shot the young girl at their family home in Davie, Florida, before taking his own life.
According to the reports, the murder-suicide took place as Angela’s mother was busy preparing breakfast. After hearing gunshots and running over to check what was happening, the mother was shocked to see her husband and their daughter fatally shot.
While the child was pronounced dead at the scene, the father was allegedly rushed to Broward County Medical Center where he later passed away.
Following the incident, Lt Mark Leone of the Davie Police Department confirmed that the case is being treated as a murder-suicide.
“While we were speaking to the mother, we were told that the child has a debilitating, terminal illness, which is a possibility for why this tragic incident occurred,” the officer said in an interview with Local 10.
“It was a devastating terminal illness. She was not going to get any better. It is such a tragic situation, a terrible situation.”
According to Miriam Casanova, the wife of Angela’s mother’s cousin, the little girl’s terminal illness had a massive impact on the otherwise happy family.
As Casanova told the Sun Sentinel, Angela’s father “couldn’t talk” and “just cried” the last time she spoke to him.
According to the family’s neighbors, George and Thelma Napolitano, the murder-suicide has been “a terrible shock.” George also claimed that his neighbor was “a gentleman” who always checked on his neighbors to see if they were doing okay.
Another neighbor, Charlene Wells, recalled the moment Angela’s mother was heard weeping as the authorities arrived at the tragic scene.
“I heard the mother come right through my yard. They picked her up, put her in the car, and she screamed a noise like I knew I’ve heard before,” Wells said in an interview with WSVN.
“She was very upset. Being the mother of a child that was killed in a car accident and how painful it is, I can imagine what they’re going through now. It’s awful. I feel bad for her. I really do.”
