A father who had been battling cancer fatally shot his wife and both of their children before taking his own life according to the police.
The shocking triple-murder suicide occurred in Bloomington, Indiana, where 61-year-old Jeff Mumper, who had been suffering from pancreatic cancer, fatally shot his wife and their two children before committing suicide.
According to the police, the evidence they have collected indicates “that a 61-year-old man had shot and killed his 54-year-old wife,” Annemarie Greta, as well as their two kids, 18-year-old Jakob and 26-year-old Emma.
The officers arrived at the scene of the crime on Sunday morning after a caller, who allegedly went to the family’s house to pick up her friend, reported finding bodies in the house after using her key to enter because no one answered her knocks.
As the Bloomington Police confirmed, all four family members have died from gunshot wounds.
The investigation is ongoing and the motive for the triple-murder suicide is not known as of this writing.
According to WTHR, friends have confirmed that the 61-year-old father had been suffering from pancreatic cancer following his victory over prostate cancer.
His wife, Annemarie, reportedly drove a school bus and had a dream of becoming a teacher. 26-year-old daughter Emma was a Stony Brook University graduate and 18-year-old Jakob was an elite swimmer at Bloomington North High School.
Paying a tribute to Jakob, who is a senior at his high school, his swimming coach Max Irwin said “it’s a tough loss on so many levels.”
“Those were my records from when I went through. So, to have coached someone who’s now better than me, that’s kind of what you really want as a coach. So, it’s a tough loss on so many levels, the athletics being one of the lesser levels for sure,” Mr. Irwin said.
