A father from Texas fatally shot a home invader who broke into his home and held his young kids at gunpoint.
The incident took place in Port Arthur, Texas, where the police rushed to the 2500 block of 18th Street after a home invasion that resulted in one fatality.
According to the reports, three armed suspects broke into a family home on Sunday at around 8.30 in the evening.
One of the suspects, 27-year-old Terence Ellies, reportedly participated in holding two young children at gunpoint after barging into the home.
After the burglars rounded up the family, including two young children, the 29-year-old father, who heard the commotion while he was in another room, came charging at the robbers with a rifle.
In an attempt to protect his children, the 29-year-old father of the two kids shot at the burglar multiple times. While Ellies died on the spot, his two accomplices reportedly escaped and are still on the run.
None of the family members were injured during the traumatizing event.
As the authorities believe, the burglars made their way into the house when a woman who lives in the house entered the building. They also believe that the suspects know each other.
The case remains under investigation led by the Port Arthur Police Department Major Crime Team.
