The miner who has gone viral after finding record-breaking tanzanites worth millions has once again made the news as he discovered yet another multi-million gemstone.
Saniniu Laizer is a 52-year-old father-of-thirty from Tanzania who dug up two tanzanite gemstones, which can only be found in Tanzania, last month.
According to the reports, Laizer was issued a cheque for $3.4 million in return for the two gemstones that weighed 11 and 20 pounds respectively.
Now, Laizer has once again proved that luck is on his side as he dug up another tanzanite weighing nearly 14 pounds and earned an additional $2 million.
As the miner, who has four wives, previously vowed, he will use the money to help his community by building a shopping mall and a school.
Despite becoming a millionaire, Laizer insisted he wouldn’t let the change impact his lifestyle and said he aims to continue taking care of his 2,000-head cow herd.
“I want to build a shopping mall and a school …I want to build this school near my home. There are many poor people around here who can’t afford to take their children to school,” Laizer said following his initial find.
“I am not educated but I like things run in a professional way. So, I would like my children to run the business professionally.”
Sharing his success story with others like him, Laizer urged small-scale miners who are not officially employed by any mining company to work with the government that set up trading centers to allow miners to sell their findings for a fair price.
