Having a pet comes with great responsibility.
That is why Steph Veerman’s father freaked out when he couldn’t find his daughter’s hamster.
Daniel Veerman immediately messaged his 19-year-old daughter when he lost Chester, the hamster.
Steph shared her conversation with her dad on Twitter, and it was so funny that it went viral!
“My dad took over my hamster once i went back to college and ended up getting really attached and today he escaped and this goes to prove how truly pure my father is,” she wrote.
Chester the adorable hamster was described as ‘pretty chill.’ He had been placed into his exercise ball when he suddenly disappeared.
“This is the absolute worst ever,” Steph’s dad wrote. “I’m never going to forgive myself if he doesn’t come back.”
Shortly afterwards, her father texted again: “If I can’t find him today I’m not going to work tomorrow so I can keep looking.”
Steph replied: “Dad – he’s just a hamster I don’t blame you at ALL. You shouldn’t skip work you are a lawyer and he is a hamster.”
This dad even tried to lure the hamster to come back home by placing out its favorite treats! He also sprinkled flour on the floor to see Chester’s footsteps.
Chester returned home after a day this dad described as ‘the most stressful day in my life since I took the bar exam.’
After sharing the story online, some people called out Steph for her ‘just a hamster’ message.point 313 |
She replied: “For all asking, this is Chester!! He’s the light of my life and not ‘just a hamster’, however, my dad was having a panic attack so i tried to calm him down by saying that!!”point 177 | 1
But what’s important is that Chester is back home safe and sound.
