A father has issued a warning about ibuprofen after his daughter with coronavirus symptoms turned ill.
4-year-old Amelia Collins was given ibuprofen after she started showing coronavirus symptoms.
However, after given ibuprofen, the toddler began vomiting, couldn’t hold her eyes open, and started shaking.
Amelia’s parents Dan and Maddie have now issued a warning about ibuprofen after they were told not to give ibuprofen to their daughter as it can aggravate the infection.
Dan said: “Within an hour of giving it to her, she dropped dramatically. She was panting while trying to breathe, her heart rate was very rapid, she couldn’t keep her eyes open, couldn’t lift her head up, her body was shaking, she started being sick on herself and her temperature had risen to 39.4!”
An emergency ambulance was sent out by NHS and the parents were told not to give her ibuprofen.
They were also told to keep their daughter isolated as she has coronavirus symptoms.
Amelia’s mum Maddie said her daughter is now back on Calpol and she is still coughing and wheezing with a high fever.
The mother said: “She has every symptom and reacted badly when given ibuprofen, which would point to the virus.”
She said her daughter has been ill for seven days now and showing no sign of being better.
She said she has not been tested so they don’t know if she really has coronavirus.
Still, they are isolating her as they are told to do so.
Maddie told MEN: “When they left her heart and breathing rate were still up and her temperature had gone down to 38.4, which is still high, but not dangerously high like it was.”
“They said even though her stats are still up they’re happy for me to self isolate her and manage it from home.”
The parents now hope their daughter gets better soon.
