A father-to-be has confessed he had been hiding coronavirus symptoms from the staff at a local hospital so he could be with his wife when she gave birth.
A father hid his coronavirus symptoms from the staff at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester to join his wife in the maternity ward when she gave birth.
The father confessed to the hospital staff that he had been hiding his symptoms only after his wife gave birth and started showing symptoms herself.
A spokesman for the Strong Memorial Hospital told that the mother started showing coronavirus symptoms after giving birth and that’s when the father admitted he had been hiding his symptoms.
The hospital spokesman told the Democrat and Chronicle: “The mother became symptomatic shortly after delivering.”
“That’s when the significant other admitted his potential exposure and that he was feeling symptomatic.”
After the incident, the University of Rochester Medical Center announced they would take the temperatures of all the visitors before allowing them in the hospital.
The temperatures of the visitors will be checked every 12 hours if they remain in the hospital.
The policy will prove to be beneficial to the patients as well as the staff as it would protect them from contracting coronavirus.
The Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia banned a couple from visiting their premature baby due to coronavirus outbreak.
Juan and Kim Flores welcomed their baby Nico on March 10 at the Northside Hospital who is in the Intensive Care Unit.
The doctors then told the couple they would not be allowing visitors in their Intensive Care Unit anymore due to coronavirus. However, they can FaceTime their newborn twice a day.
The parents praised the hospital for their decision of banning visitors as it’s for their patients and staff’s good.
The mother said: “I trust that the hospital has the best interest of my baby and all the babies at heart.”
The couple hopes to meet their newborn soon who is still recovering at the hospital.
