A father-of-five is facing up to 30 years in jail after he permanently disfigured his wife’s lover.
51-year-old Alex Bonilla from Florida claims he ‘blacked out’ when he stormed into their neighbor’s home, tied his wife’s lover up in the bedroom, then grabbed a pair of scissors and cut his penis off.
Bonilla will appear in Gilcrest County Court and plead guilty to charges of inflicting bodily harm, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon or explosives, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The married father-of-five has been imprisoned since 2019 when he was arrested for mutilating a 32-year-old man in the Gainesville suburb of Bell.
His wife’s lover was rushed to a hospital but doctors said they could not re-attach his penis, leaving the married father-of-two unable to have sex with his wife or urinate properly, court documents reveal.
Prosecutors are planning to ask the judge to sentence the father-of-five to 30 years behind bars, The Smoking Gun reported.
A pre-sentence report filed by the Florida Department of Corrections in January reveals that the incident started to unfold on July 14, 2019, two months after Bonilla caught his married neighbor having sex with his wife.
On the day of the attack, Bonilla approached his wife’s lover and told him: “You need to stay away from my wife and leave her alone.” His words allegedly angered the man and he physically tackled Bonilla.
“The defendant stated he then blacked out and doesn’t remember anything from that point until he was at work and was arrested,” the document said.
However, the victim’s statement gives a different story.
The mutilated neighbor said that Bonilla barged into his home while he was making breakfast for his children. Bonilla allegedly declared: “I cam here to fix something,” then led him to a bedroom where he made the victim sit on the bed as he pointed a gun to his head.
“You are not going to die, but you are going to have something to remember for your whole life,” Bonilla told him before using a pair of scissors to cut his private organ.
Bonilla was arrested at the Alliance Dairies where he worked. The victim’s private organ was never recovered.
The married father-of-two said that “urinating and the ability to have sex with his wife has been messed up for the rest of his life.”
