A young father shot his 6-month-old baby girl before turning the weapon on himself after a heated argument with his daughter’s mother and her family.

Police officers arrived at the scene on Sunday and found 23-year-old Trenton Gordon and his daughter, 6-month-old Kahlia, dead at the scene.

Investigators said that the father arrived with his child at her mother’s house before 1 pm when a dispute occurred between him, Kahlia’s mother, and grandfather.

According to police, Gordon took out a gun during the argument and shot the girl’s grandfather in the arm.

He then took Kahlia outside and shot the little girl before taking his own life.

The girl’s grandfather was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for injuries. Unfortunately, the baby passed away.

Police said that the child’s mother had filed for a protection from abuse order against Gordon before the shooting incident.

One day before Gordon shot his baby, he wrote a chilling message on Facebook: “This will be the last day I live I love everyone that was in my life.”

Before his Facebook post, he also sent messages to his family and friends asking them to ‘send a prayer’ to baby Kahlia.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said to AL.com: “I just hate that this happened. It’s very sad and it’s just senseless.”

He told WBRC: “It’s disturbing, it’s disturbing to me, it’s disturbing to the deputies. It’s just very, very sad, you know, the only thing I know to do is to pray for the mother, as she laid there, weeping with her child.”
