A father has been seen dangling a small child over 400ft drop at an extremely dangerous cliff edge.

The photo was taken at Seven Sisters cliff in Eastbound, East Sussex, United Kingdom.

The image shows the father holding his small child horizontally so he can see the huge drop to the coastline below.

The father was one of many individuals photographed over the bank holiday ignoring warning signs that advice people not to approach the edge of the cliff or pose for selfies at the notoriously dangerous area.

Even though the cliff may appear sturdy, it is known to crumble randomly. Two years ago, 50,000 tons of it suddenly fell away into the sea, making it dangerous for people to go beyond the signs near the tourist spot.

In 2017, a student fell to her death at the cliff after posing for a selfie. In February, the National Police Air Service shared a photo of a person dangling their legs over the edge to warn people against such behavior.

However, visitors continue to ignore warning signs. The National Trust said: “It can be extremely dangerous to stand near the cliff edge and we advise visitors to act sensibly. We have warning signs in place.”

According to a global study last year, more than 250 people passed away while taking selfies between 2011 and 2017. Conducted by the US National Library of Medicine, the study also showed the number of deaths related to selfie is increasing.

‘No selfie zones’ should be implemented in precarious areas, such as dangerous bodies of water and cliff tops, the study concluded.
