A 21-year-old father from Orlando, Florida is facing a child neglect charge after his baby was found dead at their home.
Wilner Belizaire left baby Jazmyn alone for ten hours as he worked a long shift to pay for their rent.
According to reports, he arrived at his workplace at 4 pm on December 22. But when he returned home ten hours later, he found Jazmyn lying on her stomach.
The single dad immediately called emergency services when he returned at around 11 pm and found his daughter already cold and stiff, according to the report.
The death occurred as a result of the father having to work a longer shift so he could earn enough money for their expenses, according to the arrest report cited by WKMG.
“As the suspect was leaving for work, he knew it was wrong to leave the decedent unattended for such a long period but felt pressured to work because of impending rent being due,” it reads.
Belizaire told investigators that he tried to get a babysitter for Jazmyn but he could not find one until he decided to leave his child to go to work.
He now faces a charge of neglect of a child causing disability or harm.
“I swear you’re the greatest gift I ever received,” the 21-year-old father previously wrote on Instagram.
In another post, he wrote: “My life changed so much when you came into this world.. I’m a do everything I can to give you the best life I can.”
In his most recent post on Instagram, the heartbroken father wrote: “I just want to say thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me through all of this.
“I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for your support and help.”
