Father Urged Parents To Ban Their Kids From Lollipops After His Son Nearly Passed Away

An upset dad has spoken out about the incident that nearly cost his son his life and called for a ban on lollipops because they are a choking hazard.

As father Brett Cole explained, his five-year-old son Bobby has almost choked to death after the lollipop he got during trick-or-treating fell of its plastic stick directly into his throat.

According to Cole, who has issued a steer warning to other parents after the incident, his son started making “choking noises” while enjoying his candy in the presence of his parents.

Apparently, the lollipop fell off the stick and entered his throat where it got stuck and blocked the boy’s air passage.

“We’ve seen a couple of things before about lollies, so we don’t normally give them to our children. But they had been given a few in their Halloween sweets and they had been good and asked to have them, so we let them,” Cole said in an interview.

“My wife was sat next to Bobby on the sofa and he just started choking on it. Deanna shouted for me and I hit him hard on the back, to no effect.

“He passed out and he went floppy. My wife gave him the Heimlich maneuver and after several thrusts it came out with sick and blood.”

Fortunately, Brett’s wife was able to dislodge the lollipop stuck in Bobby’s throat just in time to save his life.

“I just want to make people aware of the dangers. We all burst out crying, we were so worried. We’re going to ban the lollies,” the father added.

“Please guys take this from me ban these lollies. I never post on Facebook but please take my advice,” he wrote. “Bobby is five and I stupidly thought this was old enough. I won’t make that mistake again, make sure you don’t!”
