Father Arrested After Running Over His Children With A Backhoe After They Fell Out Of The Bucket

A father has been arrested after running over his children with a backhoe while traveling on a private road in Texas.

The tragic incident took place in Roanoke, Denton County, where 40-year-old Vijender Chauhan was driving a backhoe while a number of adults and children were scattered across different parts of the machine.

According to the reports, several people, including the man’s two children aged 7 and 11, were sitting in the backhoe’s bucket while riding the machine.

During their travel, the driver reportedly caused the bucket to shift, causing its occupants to fall to the ground and find themselves beneath the crushing wheels of the machine.

While Chauhan’s two young children died during the unfortunate accident, three other people, including two kids and one adult, had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a John Deere backhoe was traveling southwest on Chapel Hill Court with multiple children and adults riding on various moving parts of the backhoe,” Texas DPS spokesman Lonny Haschel confirmed in a statement to Denton Record-Chronicle.

“While in motion, the driver of the backhoe operated equipment causing the front bucket to dump, and occupants riding in the bucket fell to the ground.”

After the heartbreaking incident, the 40-year-old dad was arrested and charged with two counts of manslaughter on top of charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangering a child.

Following the death of two young children, it has come to light that the 7-year-old and 11-year-old attended a private Fort Worth school called Trinity Valley School.

“It is difficult to find the words to express the sorrow we all feel for the loss of our young students,” the K-12 school’s headmaster, Blair Lowry, wrote in a statement.
