A mother has been slammed online after she admitted that she has a favorite child but even though her husband called her ‘unfair,’ she said she won’t change her stance.
Posting on Reddit, the mother explained that her eldest daughter Gemma, 10, throws tantrums and can be ‘particularly difficult’ while Aurora, 7, is a ‘delight’ and ‘doesn’t really create any trouble, is happy to learn and always tries to make me happy.’
She said she ‘loves her youngest more’ as she doesn’t create problems but has been branded ‘unfair’ by her husband.
In her post, the mother said of her eldest: “She is also a fussy eater and would give me a lot of trouble if I cook something that’s not on her very limited list. She always goes blank and is not very responsive, and she has never tried to make me happy or express any feelings to me, and I am not connected to her.”
She also shared how Gemma threw another tantrum as she was ‘always favoring Aurora.’
“Am I the a****le for loving my youngest more, with a rational reason?” she asked.
Reddit users were shocked by the mother’s confession but many were quick to mention that her eldest could be showing symptoms of neurodivergence such as autism. Others also urged the mom to take her daughter to see a doctor.
Some just told the mother that she was wrong for having favorites, with one saying: “Unconditional love means you love her equally despite how she treats you. You are the parent and she is the child.”
