A family has shared photos of grandmother before and after coronavirus lockdown in an attempt to show the impact loneliness has had on the senior woman.

Due to a strict ban on visitors at her home for the elderly, 88-year-old Peggy Wall from North Carolina hasn’t been able to see her family members in person since March.

As the senior woman’s family insists, the pensioner’s condition deteriorated gravely following the lockdown and consequent isolation.

In an interview with WFMY-TV, the woman’s son, Tim, suggested that “isolation really is worse than the virus,” claiming that his mother’s loneliness at the Kernersville nursing home caused her health to deteriorate.

“It just feels like you’re seeing them disappear before your eyes and there’s nothing you can do about it,” Tim expressed.

As the son confirmed, Peggy hasn’t been able to see her family members in person for four months due to strict regulations put in place at nursing homes around the country in an attempt to prevent deadly coronavirus outbreaks.

To get his point across, and show what four months of isolation can do to a person, Tim shared two photos of his mother, one taken before and one after the lockdown.

While Peggy is seen smiling on both photos, her face is visibly more shrunken in her most recent photo.

“I know their hands are tied. They have to do what the governor has mandated, but it’s not a holistic approach. It’s a warehouse; they’re fed and watered,” Tim added.

“Time is not your friend, you have to live in the moment. And we’ve lost so many moments. During this time. And just trying to figure out what more can I do.”
