Parents know how exhausting it can be to take care of a baby, and after all the work around the house, the last thing you want to face is your neighbors complaining about your newborn’s cries in the middle of the night.
That’s why one mother decided to write a letter to their neighbors about what was about to come as she and her husband tried to get their baby sleep through the night.
In her apologetic letter, the ‘exhausted’ mother informed everyone that they were going to try the ‘cry-it-out’ method to train their baby to sleep.
“Apartment 207 here. I regret to inform you that we have begun sleep training our son,” her letter read.
“After many sleepless nights thanks to the dreaded 4-month sleep regression, we have decided it is time to start the cry-it-out method.
“If you hear the cries please pray for me and know I am also crying and going insane.
“I’m very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, let’s hope it doesn’t last long.”
She also explained that they were going to test the method for four days but if it didn’t work, they would take a break for at least a week and try it again.
“Please know I am not neglecting him, but I will let him try to self-soothe for 45-60 minutes at a time during this period,” she went on.
“I will be in the room every 5-10 minutes to reassure him he is not alone and is okay.
“If you start to feel hatred towards us just give us a friendly knock on the door and I will bring you a shot of tequila to mend our neighbor-ship.”
The apologetic letter was signed by ‘tired and sorry neighbors.’
Since being shared on Twitter, it has received more than 1 million likes and thousands of comments.
“With a note like that I would not care what they do,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Poor baby. why they are being praised is absolutely beyond me. It is recognized that cry it out method causes permanent damage to the babies synapses,” another said.
