When it comes to weddings, it is understood that the ‘white’ color is reserved for the bride.

Guests usually opt for colors that will blend in with the surroundings to let the bride shine on her special day.

But one bride was left fuming after her mother-in-law showed up with a custom-made white dress that was even more expensive than her gown.

Taking to Reddit, the furious bride explained that her ‘toxic’ mother-in-law claimed white is the ‘only color that looks good on her.’

Her father-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law tried to make the mother-in-law wear any other color but she was having none of it.

“My mother-in-law went to a designer and got a custom-made white dress for my wedding,” the bride wrote.

“She could literally have chosen any other color.”

“Closer to the date, she told me not to worry because she got a purple shawl for the pictures so that we wouldn’t clash – cringe. Just for the pictures though,” she went on.

In addition to choosing a white dress, the mother-in-law also chose a similar cut to the woman’s wedding gown.

“Her dress cost way more than mine. This is not a big deal but she kept mentioning how much she had paid,” she said.

“All she kept saying was that not wearing white was old fashioned.”

Many Reddit users slammed the mother-in-law for wearing a white dress to her son’s wedding, with one person writing: “Every time she wears non-white clothes remark that she was right – no other colors are flattering on her.”

Another shared: “I so relate to this. When I got married, I wore my mother-in-law’s wedding dress. It was ivory satin – very nice. She told everyone I was ‘too cheap to buy her own dress’.

“She was one of ten guests at our wedding and she wore ivory – the same color as her dress that I was wearing.”
