A’leasha, a mom from Queensland, Australia, went viral after telling Kidspot about her festive season shopping spree and about how she already spent $1,400 on presents for her three-year-old daughter.

As the mother insisted, she has no fixed budget and will continue buying more gifts until it’s time to hand over the gifts to her child.

“So I was a little surprised to realize I’d spent around $1,400 on my daughter’s Christmas presents – but we were planning on buying the bigger items anyway, and I know that she will love it,” the mother insisted.

She further suggested that the gifts will compensate for the lack of attention the toddler has had since the mother welcomed another baby.

“Given her issues with adjusting with having a new baby in the house, and the less attention she is getting, we feel as though she needs to be spoilt and have more focus on her this Christmas,” A’leasha continued.

One of the reasons why the mother really wanted to spoil her toddler this festive season is also the fact that her family just moved from Brisbane to Townsville away from other relatives including the baby’s grandparents.

While the three-year-old is admittedly getting spoiled, A’leasha explained that her newborn child isn’t getting the same treatment because he is “too little to realize it’s Christmas.”

“In years to come we will try to be more ‘even’ with how much we spend on each child – but this year, I’ve just bought him some bath toys, soft blocks, clothing, rattles, baby toys and a Jumperoo,” she added.

After speaking to Kidspot, A’leasha and her story quickly went viral with viewers left divided.

While some parents admitted they too love to spoil their children because “they deserve it,” others suggested that buying too many gifts for children teaches them not to appreciate things.
