A man has shared how his in-laws were left angry at him after he told them that their child’s name was spelt wrong.
He took to Reddit and explained that he was visiting his girlfriend’s family for the first time when he met her 5-year-old niece named Neveah.
“I never heard the name and my girlfriend’s sister said it is Heaven spelt backwards,” he wrote.
“It is not because heaven backwards would be Nevaeh (not Neveah). Later I told my girlfriend what her sister said and at first, she didn’t believe me and the next morning told her parents who also didn’t believe me,” he continued.
“I had to type it out for them to see what I meant.”
His girlfriend’s parents, her sister and brother-in-law had no idea and they were completely baffled to learn that it was not heaven spelt backwards.
“Am I wrong for bringing it up to my girlfriend? She’s p***ed at me for telling her and so are her parents, sister and brother-in-law,” he continued.
“I don’t think it’s my fault none of them noticed for five years but my girlfriend thinks I shouldn’t have said anything to her in the first place.”
One person commented: “Holy s*** they’re stupid. Sure you wanna be tied to that kind of dumb? I mean heaven spelt backwards is already a s****y name, but to misspell it is wild. Feel bad for the kid.”
Another wrote: “That little girl would have went to school telling people her name is heaven backwards and would get teases the moment those kids learn to spell. You helped them out.”
