‘Am I In The Wrong For Getting Mad At My Husband After He Went Behind My Back And Gifted My Mother-In-Law My Pregnancy Test?’

As first-time parents, it is not uncommon to keep mementos of your little one’s early years, with some even keeping their used pregnancy test.

But one pregnant mom was left ‘creeped out’ when she discovered that her mother-in-law wanted to keep her pregnancy test.

The woman took to Reddit and explained that her mother-in-law was desperate for a memento of her baby as she will be a grandmother for the first time.

“I found out I was pregnant very recently, and my husband and his family are beyond happy and excited,” she wrote.

“My husband was married two times before me but couldn’t have kids for 10 years. This is obviously a huge deal for his family because his mum will be a first-time grandma with this baby.”

Her in-laws threw a celebration party for them and her mother-in-law told her about how she already started having ‘keepsakes’ of her grandchild.

“I felt a bit confused and asked if my husband bought something for the baby and gave it to her,” she wrote.

But the mother-in-law said no and explained that he gave her used pregnancy test to keep as a memento.

“I was floored. I looked at my husband like ‘did you really do that?’ and he nodded while smiling,” she shared.

“I felt creeped out, disgusted and very uncomfortable,” she added.

When she confronted her husband, he accused her of ‘overreacting’ about the situation and said that she had ‘ruined the joy’ of their pregnancy announcement.

People on Reddit sided with the pregnant woman, with one person writing: “It’s one thing your husband keeping it without telling you. But to give it secretly to his mother? I agree that it’s creepy, and I don’t think you overreacted at all.”

Another commented: “Those results on that test will fade over time, so not even worth saving. That’s weird and sort of gross that your husband saved the test, and weirder still he gave it to his mum.”
