‘My Husband Is Mad At Me After I Told Everyone That He Did NOT Get Me Anything For My Birthday – But Am I In The Wrong?’

A woman has shared how her husband got mad at her after she told people that he did not buy her any birthday present.

She took to Reddit and explained that she gave him a handmade card with their dogs’ pawprints stamped inside for his last birthday.

But every year, her husband doesn’t exert any effort when it comes to her birthday. This year, he didn’t get her anything at all and she was left heartbroken.

The woman said that she doesn’t want to force her husband to put some effort but when her family and friends started asking what he got her for her birthday, she didn’t want to lie.

“This has hands down been one of the worst birthdays I’ve had and I didn’t want to lie to my friends and family,” she wrote.

“They could tell I was upset and hurt by the situation. My husband told me ‘happy birthday’ before he left for work, so he didn’t forget, but that was the end of it.”

The frustrated wife continued: “Well, one of my friends, who is also his friend, called him out on it and he was p***** that I told her that he didn’t get me anything.

“I asked him what he expected me to say and he replied I should tell them a fib because it was embarrassing for him that our mutual friend knew he didn’t put any effort into my birthday.”

The woman is now wondering whether she was the one in the wrong for telling the truth to their friends and family.

One Reddit user commented: “If he wants people to think he’s a good husband, maybe he should actually try to be one. It’s a red flag that he cared more about being called out and looking bad to others than actually hurting your feelings.”

Another wrote: “Why should you have to cover for his indifference towards your birthday? It says a lot that he isn’t motivated on his own but is motivated/shamed when others call him on it.”
