A father who has been branded as an abuser has spoken out and sought advice after forcing his son to eat vegan food for a month.
As the anonymous father in question revealed in his Reddit post, his daughter recently made the decision to go vegan for a year. Since the 14-year-old promised to cook her own meals, her father didn’t see any reason not to support her decision.
The same, however, could not be said for the girl’s brother. According to the dad, his 16-year-old son started bullying and making fun of his sister because of her decision to eat cruelty-free food.
“My son had taken all the vegan food my daughter had bought for the week and hid it – pretending he threw it away on garbage day,” the father wrote.
“I had to rush home only to discover it was just a prank. I was livid.”
Infuriated by his son’s callous actions, the father then decided to punish the teenager by putting him on a vegan diet for a month.
“I told my son this, and told him that if he wants anything else he will be paying for it. He lost his mind,” the dad added.
He went on to reveal that the boy complained to his grandparents about the new rule and that they, too, were furious about the boy’s punishment.
“They rang me up furious, telling me I was abusing him… I ended up hanging up on them. The rest of my family followed suit, and some friends have now joined in, calling me abusive – but I cannot see it,” the dad says.
“My son is miserable, but I really don’t care. He brought this upon himself. He still has food to eat, and can spend what little pocket money he has to buy meat for the next 25 days if he wants.”
Asking the internet if he was in the wrong, the father insisted he’s going to enforce the punishment despite the backlash from his family’s side.
