An elderly couple tied the knot in a grocery store where they first met after bonding some condiments.
Dennis Delgado, 78, and Brenda Williams, 72, got married on November 18 in aisle 8 of the Fry’s Food and Drug Store in Casa Grande where they first met during the pandemic.
Their love story began when Brenda was looking for mayonnaise Miracle Whip and Dennis didn’t hesitate to approach her.
Speaking to Fox 13, Dennis said: “We both had masks on, and I say to her ‘you know the best thing about wearing a mask? You could pass these [people] not wearing a mask, and curse them out under your breath, they don’t hear a word you’re saying,’ and she started laughing.”
Their conversation lasted for around 30 minutes and they quickly exchanged their phone numbers.
The two decided to meet at a local church, where Brenda was a member.
“After my husband died, I lost my sense of purpose,” she told KPNX. “That’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”
Dennis also knew how painful and difficult it was as he had lost his wife of 45 years in 2020.
“I was angry at him (God) for taking her away from me and I wanted to apologize to him,” he expressed.
It took time but both of them healed as they had become each other’s support system. Months later, Dennis popped the question and they said ‘I do’ inside the grocery store where it all started.
Dennis said that the ceremony was one of the most beautiful days of his life.
“She came around. They cued the wedding march other their loudspeakers in the store. It was wonderful,” he said.
On their wedding day, Dennis wore a grey button-up shirt and black pants while Brenda wore a royal blue dress.
“It was my idea to get married there,” Brenda revealed. “I’m kind of weird okay.”
