65-year-old Kathleen Rowe and her husband George, 72, are being sued for $250,000 by their homeowner’s association for feeding the animals in the neighborhood.

According to reports, the Lakeland Community Homeowners Association filed the suit in June, claiming that residents had enough of the couples feeding the ducks.

Filed in Harris County Civil Court, the suit asks a judge for a “permanent mandatory injunction requiring Defendants to cease from feeding any wildlife” in the area.

Kathleen, who cares for her husband with multiple sclerosis, told Fox 26 Houston that the HOA are “just a lot of very hateful type of people who do not like ducks,” adding that she loves the animals.

The association is reportedly seeking to be compensated for attorney costs, for the couple to be banned from feeding the animals in addition to monetary relief.

“We didn’t have the $250,000, so we have to be prepared in case that’s what it’s going to cost,” Kathleen told the Houston Chronicle.

“They’ve never had a mother, I feel like I’m just stepping in. I’m going to miss them terribly.”

George also added: “I’m going to more than miss them terribly.”

The association claims that feeding the ducks causes “imminent harm and irreparable injury” to the Plaintiff.

The lawsuit is also asking permission for the HOA to foreclose on the property if the couple won’t stop feeding the ducks.

“We just watch ‘em and they’re just beautiful,” Kathleen told Fox 26 Houston.

“I tried, I went three whole days of not feeding them, just trying to stay away from the ducks but they started coming across the street from the water way into my yard and basically crying,” she expressed.

“They were starving these were the ones that people just dropped them off. They’re just a lot of very hateful type people who do not like ducks, and me I just love ’em.”

She continued: “There is nothing in their bylaws that says you cannot feed the ducks. They never leave any corn behind.

“It hurts it just hurts you know I’ve been loving these same ducks for years and if there is any way I can grab a couple of them and take them with me I will.”
