Sending messages to a wrong number usually leads up to a ‘no problem’ and a ‘sorry,’ but this one took things to the next level.
New parents Mark and Lindsey Lashley were over to the moon when their baby Knox finally entered the world. But they had no idea that Mark’s mother, Teresa, was sending news of the progress to a complete stranger.
The grandmother thought she was sending a group message to only family and friends. However, there was Dennis William’s number. Although he had no idea who these people were, he was glad to know about the baby.
That did not stop him and Deorick, his brother, from congratulating Mark and Lindsey in person.
Mark said to Daily Mail online that his mom did not realize she invited a stranger up to the room where he and Lindsey were caressing their baby boy.
“It was different. I mean, my friend just walked in and said: ‘There are some more people coming down the hallway,’ and we didn’t know who they were and they said, ‘Oh, we’re the ones who got the random text message.
“The reason it happened was my cousin had a new phone and I guess those boys ended up with her old number.”
Mark said that as soon as they understood what just happened, they appreciate the strangers’ act of kindness.
“[My mother] thought she was still talking to my cousin, that’s who she thought she was talking to,” Mark continued. “I don’t think we would have randomly invited them over but we appreciate it and the gifts. You don’t hear about much compassion in the news anymore.”
