Angry Mother Locked Her Young Son Out Of The House On Christmas Eve To Teach Him A ‘Lesson’

An angry mother asked the internet for advice after locking her young son out of her house on Christmas Eve to teach him a lesson.

As the unnamed mother revealed in her Reddit post, her 16-year-old son came home at 11 pm – one hour past his curfew – on Christmas Eve. He allegedly also failed to respond to her many calls before suddenly appearing outside his home and knocking on the locked door in an attempt to get someone to let him in.

The teenager, however, was in for a big surprise when his furious mother told him to sleep in the treehouse and use blankets to keep himself warm overnight.

“I have 4 children and I’m pretty easygoing, they don’t have a lot of rules they have to abide by, it’s simple, be respectful, do your chores, and for the 2 teenagers (15&16) be back before 10 pm,” the woman wrote in her post.

She added: “My 16 year old son came home at 11 last night when the house was already locked up after missing about 10 calls from me. He knocked to get in and I just called him back and told him he could sleep in the tree house and that there were already blankets up there and hopefully this would be a lesson to stick to curfew.

“He was apparently on a date with someone (whom we haven’t met) and didn’t realize his phone was set an hour behind. To me, that’s all excuses, I told him he had the rest of the night in the cubby to reset his time and we’d see him in the morning.”

On the following day, the mother allegedly let her son inside early only for the exhausted boy to get straight to his bed and sleep until lunch.

After seeing his tired son in the morning, the boy’s father decided to confront his wife and slam her punishment method.

“My husband said I completely over reacted, it was an honest mistake and he’s exhausted from not being able to sleep in the tree house, he would have been able to, it was warm enough and I put enough bedding up there. Still, my husband says it was a complete a**hole move,” the mother added.

After asking the internet for advice, the woman was quickly slammed and told just how terrible her decision to force her son to sleep outside was.

“So you locked your minor child outside, in December, on Christmas Eve? Had he called CPS on you they’d have explained why this was wrong,” someone wrote.

“Next time he realizes he’s missed curfew, he probably won’t bother coming home at all that night. YTA [you’re the ***hole] for overreacting, handing down an inappropriate punishment, and locking your child out of the house on Christmas Eve. I believe in a comment you said this was his first time missing curfew… you locked him out overnight for a first strike, and you don’t think you overreacted?” another added.

The third wrote: “Do parents not want a trusting relationship with their child? This just teaches the kid that Mom, on Christmas eve of all nights, takes arbitrary rules more seriously than their son’s safety. Mom, why don’t you sleep in the tree house for a December night if it’s so comfortable.”
