A fake doctor has been arrested after nearly killing one of her patients during a butt enlargement surgery that she performed at her home.
60-year-old Ena Boulton from Hialeah, Florida, lured 33-year-old Mariela Alonso into her home by offering her an affordable $800 butt enlargement procedure done at her home.
During the surgery, Ena injected her victim with an FDA unapproved synthetic filler, Bio-Alcamid, that nearly killed Mariela, leaving the doctors with no choice but to place her in a medically-induced coma to save her life.
Bio-Alcamid is a controversial filler consisting of 4% gel (polyalkylimide) and 96% water. It is known to have the potential to have adverse effects on users by resulting in life-threatening infections.
According to the reports, Ena was practicing medicine from the comfort of her home despite the fact that she didn’t hold a license.
Following the operation, Mariela started suffering from severe body ache and eventually ended up vomiting blood.
While the fake doctor assured her she would be okay, the woman was soon rushed to hospital where she had to be hospitalized due to her deteriorating condition. Initially, the doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia. However, they had to put her in a coma after she stopped responding.
After waking up from a coma two months later, the 33-year-old reported Ena to the police and accused her of causing speech impairment, contracture deformities, and motor skills deficiency.
The case is currently under investigation. As for Ena, she’s facing multiple charges for practicing medicine without a license as well as for inflicting serious injury.
