Heartbreaking video footage has emerged that shows an exhausted baby elephant collapsing in in eastern Thailand.
The baby elephant was tied to its mother with a rope who was giving rides to tourists at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens.
A tourist filmed the heartbreaking moment the baby elephant, which is believed to be around a year old, collapsed after getting exhausted.
He then stands up and starts walking again with its mother at the Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens.
According to DailyMail, the tourist said: “There are many more baby elephants tied with their mother walking around with tourists at their backs enjoying under the heat of the sun while these elephants are suffering.”
“This one baby elephant was so exhausted, and you can see the mother comforting and encouraging her to stand.”
“I’m just concerned for the elephants and want to ensure their welfare is properly taken care of.”
A spokesman for the Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens said:
“All of the elephants are healthy and treated very well. If there is a problem they are treated by vets. All of the babies here are healthy.”
At Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, elephants perform and give rides to the tourists.
Though the tourists have been urged to stop riding elephants in Thailand, the elephant rides are still offered in Thailand.
