Ex-BLM leader Rashad Turner said he quit after 18 months after he discovered the ‘ugly truth’ about the organization.
Rashad Turner released a video titled ‘The Truth Revealed about BLM’ and explained how he learned the truth about the organization’s stance on family and education.
He also shared how he realized that the organization had ‘little concern for rebuilding black families.’
“I believed the organization stood for exactly what the name implies – black lives do matter,” he said.
“However, after a year on the inside, I learned they had little concern for rebuilding black families and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis.”
Turner said his stance on BLM became evident when the organization called for a stop to the growth of charter schools in 2016.
“I was an insider in Black Lives Matter and I learned the ugly truth,” he continued.
“The moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family but it does create barriers to a better education for black children.
“I resigned from Black Lives Matter after a year and a half but I didn’t quit working to improve black lives and access to a great education.”
Turner’s video also shared how BLM’s website once said that it wanted to ‘disrupt the nuclear family structure.’
The video was posted by an organization called TakeCharge Minnesota.
His remarks about the BLM come less than a week after the organization’s national co-founder Patrisse Cullors revealed she was stepping down from her role.
Cullors had faced backlash after it was reported that she had amassed a $3 million property portfolio even though she described herself as a ‘trained Marxist.’
