Eric Adams has officially won the mayor race for New York City as many citizens hope for a new beginning in a highly troubled city.
For many, Eric Adams is renowned for his keen sense of humor but many now believe he’s definitely going to be needing it after taking charge of New York City.
Adams is the second black mayor of New York City and one that many citizens are counting on for obvious reasons.
The mayor won by a landslide victory which many saw coming as the Democrat has managed to create the right first impression from the start, reports claim.
With a background of being a police captain, many hope his training and background can help make a difference in so many lives.
For those who aren’t aware, Adams is also currently serving as the President of the Brooklyn borough and has also been previously elected as the former state senator.
Now, Adams will take the reins from Bill de Blasio as his second term was mired due to the effects of the pandemic, a number of job losses, sky-high housing costs, and rental rates too. In addition to that, the great income inequality and the broken transport system are definitely worth an added mention.
Throughout the race for Mayor, Adams worked hard to brand himself as the famous blue-collar mayor. And in no time, he managed to gain the approval of a number of voters from across all 5 boroughs.
Similarly, he worked hard in combatting issues like gun violence as well as improving the public’s safety as one of his primary areas of focus throughout his campaign. In addition to that, his massive appeals for cuts in the current NYPD budget to help establish jobs for civilians was highly applauded by the masses.
Now, it will be interesting to see how hard he works to stay true to his many promises as citizens claim they expect a lot from him in terms of change.
