Without a doubt, dress codes play a major role in how a school functions.

In case you’re wondering why, well, it depicts a school’s image and represents its values and beliefs outside its own premises. Moreover, for this reason, you’ll commonly find most schools to have a conservative dress code because, at the end of the day, no one wants to be in the bad books.

But one school which goes by the name of Fisher Middle School in Los Gatos just might be a little different from the rest when it comes to dressing codes. Despite the climate that we’re all facing currently, the school has made it a rule to force their female students to wear ‘difficult or uncomfortable’ clothing.

Thankfully, one girl’s father isn’t having any of this and now he’s going viral with his rants about the school while challenging the school’s administration along the way too.

Tony Alarcon who is Demetra’s dad says he rebuked his daughter’s school’s dress code because they repeatedly made it a point to call her out for going against it. The dad says he reached his boiling point when the school spoke about how his 13-year-old continued to wear shorts with a lightweight shirt on hot summer days. And that way, she continued to break the dress code.

“I was told shorts were no longer appropriate,” he explained in a furious tone. “I literally had to go back into my vehicle and where I luckily had a pair of leggings which served as a backup!”

Ever since the school’s remarks, the young 13-year-old has gone about wearing outfits that are long-sleeved as well as long trousers. And keeping in mind the state’s sizzling weather, it’s just not cool.

Now, the dad is using his right and freedom of voice by raising the concern on social media for his daughter and other female students who claim they have experienced something similar. Calling out young girls because the school finds the girls’ clothing as ‘distracting’ for other men was just something that a father could never tolerate, he added.

Surprisingly, so many other parents have joined Tony in the protest, and hope to see a less strict version of a dress code when it comes to females only.
