Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about being an introvert and explained how she sometimes has ‘bad days.
’ But the popular host promised to make changes going forward.
The 62-year-old also revealed in a Zoom call with more than 200 employees of The Ellen DeGeneres show that three executive producers had been fired amid ‘toxic workplace’ claims.
Ellen is said to have addressed the claims that there was a rule on the set that none of the employees could give her eye contact, PageSix reported.
“I don’t know where it started,” she said in the meeting. “Please talk to me. Look me in the eye.”
The host also described the rumor as ‘insane,’ adding: “It’s crazy, just not true, I don’t know how it started. [It’s] not who I am.”
One allegation made by former producer Neil Breed claimed that staff members were encouraged not to look at Ellen.
He said on 4BC radio station: “(Ellen DeGeneres’) producers called us aside and said, ‘Now, Neil, no one is to talk to Ellen. You don’t talk to her, you don’t approach her, you don’t look at her.’”
Breed continued: “’ She’ll come in, she’ll sit down, she’ll talk to Richard and then Ellen will leave.’ And I sort of said, ‘I can’t look at her?’ I found the whole thing bizarre.”
Ellen is alleged to have opened up about being an introvert and having ‘bad days’ during the Zoom call, the Deadline reported.
The host explained how being introverted makes her want to have her own space on set and be lone, which she reportedly admitted could be misinterpreted by staff.
“Does that mean I’m perfect? No. I’m not,” Ellen reportedly expressed. “I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and try to learn from my mistakes.”
