Ellen DeGeneres Takes A Serious Stance Against LGTB Punishment In Brunei

The government of Brunei is run by the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah. The main religion of the country is Islam, and the authority is very strict about its implementation.

It is rather clear to the people of the world that gay or lesbian relations are seen as sins as per the Sharia law. The common people are expected to follow the strict code of conduct that has been highlighted in the laws.

Even two unmarried adults of the opposite sex are not permitted to hold hands in the public places. If the rule is violated, the authority takes great pride in publicly shaming the individuals and flogging them.

Thus, it is only obvious that the country will implement some unimaginably heinous laws for the LGBT community.

Recently, the Sultan announced that a new law will be implemented in Brunei for punishing the members of LGBT community. Stones will be thrown at the gay people continuously till they die as a punishment for their acts.

The Sultan has several hotels, which serve the crème de la crème of Hollywood. Philanthropist and comedian Ellen DeGeneres has voiced her concerns about the matter via her social media account.

She has urged the Hollywood community and general people to shun these hotels as a mark of protest against the cruel laws.

Ellen DeGeneres was not the only celeb who had something to say about the act. Actor George Clooney went ahead to mention that the staff was not to be blamed for what was clearly the decision of the head of the state.

The Sultan earns millions from these hotels. Celebs boycotting these extravagant hotels may drill some sense in the head of the Sultan of Brunei.
