One-Month-Old Elephant Cries In Pain After Motorcyclist Crashed Into It


A one-month-old elephant was left crying in pain after a motorcyclist crashed into it in Chanthaburi, Thailand.

The poor animal was knocked to the ground while the motorist, 53-year-old Anan Cherdsoongnern, was thrown in the air and hit the pavement around 20 feet away.

The baby elephant was crying loudly when rescuers arrived and performed CPR on it.

Staff at the Forest fire Control office rushed to the scene after hearing the elephant’s cries.

When the baby jumbo appeared to start losing consciousness, one of the volunteers started performing a CPR on the poor animal.

The elephant’s pulse slowly returned but it still couldn’t stand on its own as paramedics arrived and carried the injured motorcyclist on a stretcher.

A few minutes later, the baby elephant managed to stand but it still couldn’t walk properly. It then got its strength back after the volunteers moved it in a truck and took it to a quiet area where its mother could find it.

The mother later came out from the forest and went straight to its injured baby. The two went back to the forest together.

Lek, one of the volunteers, said: “We gave the elephant first aid and then one of my colleagues had to perform CPR.

“It was such a nerve-wracking moment. I’m glad the baby survived its injuries and is together with its mother now.”

Lek added: “It was dark when the crash happened. We think the young elephant was scared by something and ran into the road, but we will wait until the injured man is recovered to ask him exactly how it happened.”
