A self-isolating woman has gone viral after her plea in which she asked her neighbors if they could give her some books to read went viral.
With lockdown in place, plenty of people, especially those living alone, find it hard to keep themselves entertained and forget about all the bad stuff going on.
As a Twitter user named Bon Cliff explained in his post, one senior lady in his block pleaded with her neighbors for books and DVDs.
“Hi neighbors, HELP – has anyone any spare books or DVDs. I am 72 and live alone, and am going round the twist with nothing to read,” the woman’s note read.
“Would much appreciate anything, please leave outside 143 (…) Thank you for your kindness. Keep safe and be well.”
Apparently, the elderly lady has touched people’s hearts as she came up with a follow-up note in which she thanked everyone for support just a day later.
The follow-up message, which was posted in the lobby, read:
“Thank you everyone – I am most touched and appreciative of your generosity and kindness. When I have finished the books, DVDs etc. I shall leave them on the little table in the lobby for everyone to enjoy (it will take a while).
“PS You have saved an old bird’s sanity.”
After the photos of the notes were posted on Twitter, thousands of people liked the post whereas many were suggesting they wanted to send some books to the elderly lady as well.
In an update, however, Cliff insisted he’s not going to share the senior’s address and claimed she’s already gotten around 50 books from her neighbors. Instead, the man encouraged people to help those in their areas who are struggling with the lockdown.
