While the senior lady thought she was saved when a Royal Mail postman appeared in front of her home, she was soon left speechless after the man refused to help her stand up. The postman not only left Stewart’s home without helping the woman but also failed to alert her neighbors or the emergency services about her condition.

“I can’t help you pal. I’m knackered. Absolutely knackered,” the postman reportedly told the senior woman before taking off and leaving her lying helpless in the cold snow.

Speaking of her unpleasant experience, the 72-year-old told MailOnline that she’s a good person and that she didn’t do anything to deserve such treatment.

Following her fall outside her home, Stewart was left lying in the snow for 20 minutes before she was finally rescued by Karolina Domska, a Hermes driver who saw the old lady struggling. After getting the woman back on her feet, Domska helped her inside the house and called for an ambulance.

“I’m a bit sore and I think it is catching up with me lying on the ground for so long. I was soaked through and it has left me sore all over,” Stewart, who has been living alone for a decade since the death of her husband, said in an interview with MailOnline.

“The bump on my head where I banged it is still sore to touch and I can’t comb my hair at all.”

Recalling the day she was left feeling “frustrated” because of the uncaring Royal Mail postman, Stewart added:

“I fell down my front steps onto the concrete driveway and it was covered in snow and ice. When I fell down I banged my head. I asked the postman to help me get up and he said he was too knackered.

“He walked away and left me shouting for help. I shouted for a while and I was crying because I was angry and frustrated. I felt quite worthless.”

Following the incident, the Royal Mail management allegedly apologized to Stewart and the family. As the 72-year-old’s niece, Sheryl, also confirmed, she’s not willing to let the matter be ignored. Meanwhile, the postal service allegedly launched an investigation into the matter.
