A pensioner was left stunned after discovering who’s been secretly moving his things in his garden shed at night while the man was sleeping.

72-year-old retired electrician Stephen Mckears first began noticing that things inside his shed in South Gloucester had been moving one month ago.

As Mckears found out, an old ice cream container was getting filled with screws, plastic clips, and various other items over the span of several weeks. The man also spotted peanut remains that he keeps feeding birds.

Interested in finding out who or what the culprit was, the 72-year-old set up a hidden camera and recorded the diligent ‘worker’ in action.

As it turned out, the one tidying Mckears’ garden shed was a tiny, adorable mouse that was lifting objects heavier and bigger than itself.

“I’ve been calling him Brexit Mouse because he’s been stockpiling for Brexit,” the pensioner said.

“The heaviest thing was the plastic attachment at the end of a hosepipe – and the chain of an electric drill.

“I didn’t know what it was at first. The kids were saying it was a ghost. One day I emptied the tub out and spread the contents on the side – and the next day they were all back in again. I thought I was going mad.”

Mr. Rodney Holbrook, a 70-year-old lad who helped Mckears set up the camera, added:

“I’ve been calling him Metal Mickey but some people have been saying he’s just mouse proud.

“I was quite amazed to see it – it is an amazing mouse. Steve asked if he could use my trail camera to film whatever it was that was moving the objects in his shed.

“The mouse was chucking things into the box – we thought it was a ghost or something at first. I thought I have to see this for myself.

“It was doing it for about two hours that night – he must have had to go for sleep after it. I’ve seen a mouse moving objects to make a nest but never metal objects. It’s quite amazing.”
