The 38-year-old protagonist of The Fantastic Beast franchise has allied with most Hollywood celebrities in defending trans rights and called the author’s comments apprehensive. In a recent tweet, the Rowling tweeted out an article titled: ‘Creating a more equal post COVID-19 world for people who menstruate’. She has given in response: ”People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?’  The LGBT community as well as those who label themselves allies have cried transphobia for the Harry Potter world’s creator.

Redmayne responded to her comments in a recent magazine interview, saying: ‘As someone who has worked with both J.K. Rowling and members of the trans community… I wanted to make it absolutely clear where I stand. I disagree with Jo’s comments. Trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary identities are valid.’
